Stories I Couldn't Tell While I Was a Pastor Bruce McIver pastored the same church in Dallas, Texas, tor thirty years, and as he says, "After all these years I've got something on somebody in every pew!" That is how Stories I Couldn't Tell While I Was a Pastor came into being.
Wild weddings, awkward hospital visits, pulpit bloopers of the worst kind, a funeral service where one disaster led to another, and the
"guest performer" who squawked and swooshed its way through a Christmas play! These are just a few of the memories that Bruce has to offer. As you reminisce with him, prepare yourself to be delighted and entertained.
Just As Long As I'm Riding Up Front
Laughter makes life's "medicine" go down easier. In this collection of true-life stories from the pulpit-and beyond-Bruce Mclver takes you on a wild-goose chase down memory lane, telling about the time his wife, Lawanna, crawled under the hedge to leave a note on Norman Rockwell's porch...and the time he was mistaken for dead...and the time it hurt too much to laugh...and the time he was asked one too many questions by an inquisitive six-year-old....
Spend a little time letting Bruce Mclver tell you a story.
BRUCE MCIVER was pastor of Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, for thirty years. A graduate of Baylor University in Waco, he earned his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. He and his wife, Lawanna, spend their retirement staying busy-traveling, speaking and conducting conferences. They are the parents of three daughters, and they have three grandchildren.
